Roanoke Valley SHRM

• Experience Conference RISE 2024 - Hosted by 20 regional organizations who developed 40+ socials, keynotes, discussions, and sessions over two days. The event will be held at multiple venues throughout downtown Roanoke with the larger sessions taking place at Hotel Roanoke & Taubman Museum. Other venues include The Spot on Kirk, Six and Sky, Dumas Center, The Eye (planetarium) at Center in the Square, 202 Social, Status, and PowerSchool (offices in the Norfolk Southern Building).
• There is a community showcase expo on Friday, May 3 at the Hotel Roanoke. It’s free for community organizations, clubs, companies, etc. to host a table from 11am-2pm to highlight ways that people can get engaged year-round. Vendor sign up can be found through the attendee registration portal.
• We have four tracks – innovator, changemaker, career builder, and recruiter. Attendees can mix it up and go to a variety of sessions with topics focus around these four areas.
• We have four keynotes. More details about each speaker, tracks, and agenda on the conference webpage. Keynotes range from the Founding Engineering at Pinterest and CTO at Reddit (Marty Weiner), to the Asia Pacific/Middle East VP of Google and YouTube - now the Founder of the Institute for Leadership in Technology at VT (Rishi Jaitly), the global VP of talent attraction at DCI (Patience Fairbrother), and transformative developer and CEO of the new Riverdale project in Roanoke (Ed Walker).
• This year’s theme is RISE. We hope to inspire attendees to RISE in their careers, help their organizations and companies RISE, and to RISE together as a community.

THE SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP EXAM?

If you are planning to sit for the for SHRM CP/SCP, RVSHRM offers certification scholarships each year! The windows for applications are Spring, 1/1-5/31 and Fall, 6/1-10/31.  The scholarship amounts available depends on the number of applications received each window. Here is the application.  Once completed, send it to Kim Anderson, our Certification Director. 

WANT TO TAKE THE EXAM BUT NEED A PREP COURSE?
