    College Recruiting Outlook

The labor market has never been more volatile and harder to understand, especially as a new generation of talent enters the workforce. That's why for 53 years the College Recruiting Outlook survey has been administered to help employers, college graduates and college career centers predict and respond to the changing annual landscape. Listen as Stuart Mease, college recruiting expert, covers the following topics to aid in your talent search.

    • Hiring outlook for recent college graduates by organizational size, industry sector, geography and academic discipline
    • Salary compensation considerations during an inflationary period
    • Internship outlook and other forms of experiential activities
    • AI / ChatGPT's impact on the recruiting process.

Stuart will also cover ongoing efforts in the Roanoke Valley to attract and retain young talent.

    SPEAKER:

    STUART MEASE

Stuart Mease has committed his career to connecting talent and companies. His service in this industry spans the private, governmental and higher education sectors providing a unique lens to the labor market.

Currently, Mease is a Director for ROCS Grad Staffing, a firm specializing in helping companies identify and hire recent college graduates with 0-5 years of experience.

Prior, Mease spent 15 years at college career centers. Most recently as the Executive Director of Employer Relations at Wake Forest University, and at his alma mater, Virginia Tech, where he oversaw admission and diversity recruiting, mentoring, career services, employer outreach and lifelong career services for the Pamplin College of Business.

He has authored “The Perfect Job Seeker” for Wiley and has developed other content for their Wiley Plus platform. Prior, he worked as a corporate recruiter for Rackspace.

Mease’s enjoyment of working in the talent ecosystem stemmed from a stint at the City of Roanoke, Virginia where he created programs and events aimed at attracting and retaining the creative class workforce. These activities received over 125 local, state and national media exposures. Additionally, Mease has been asked to speak over 100 times to audiences about these programs. Blue Ridge PBS also recognized Mease’s work and invited him to be a content contributor to “JobQuest” a live monthly television show assisting job seekers. The show won a regional Emmy.

Part of Mease's ability to connect others with jobs stems from his past career experiences in the sports arena. For example, he has been a production assistant for ESPN college football and basketball telecasts, as well as the Virginia Tech/ISP Sports Network. He has worked over 350 sporting events such as the NCAA/ACC Basketball Tournaments and numerous college football games with the likes of Mike Tirico, Dr. Jerry Punch, Dick Vitale, Bill Roth, Mike Burnop, Chris Fowler, Lee Corso and Kirk Herbstreit. He has also had over 50 sports articles and press releases published in the USA Today, Carolina Blue, Baseball America, GoHeels.com, and Virginia Tech Gridiron.

Finally, Mease not only preaches the art of "connecting" but lives it as well. He is active in his community having run for political office. Mease enjoys studying Christianity, playing golf and watching basketball. He is married and has two children.
