Stress in the Workplace: Issues and Solutions

Stress is an epidemic in our society, and impacts businesses in multiple ways: staff absenteeism, increased health insurance claims, the greater likelihood of accidents, employee turnover, and poor inter-personal relations on the job. What can you, as a human resources professional, do to assist your company in managing employee stress? What are some methods to boost staff morale and strengthen productivity?

In this talk, you will learn about the nature of stress and how it affects both employees and employers. The speaker, Andy Matzner, a licensed clinical social worker and stress management consultant, will then share ideas and tools that you can use to create a more positive workplace environment.

    Learning Objectives:

    1.         Participants will understand the nature of workplace stress.

    2.         Participants will be able to identify the consequences of stress on staff.

    3.         Participants will learn different strategies for mitigating workplace stress.

Andy Matzner, MSW, is a psychotherapist in private practice and licensed clinical social worker. He holds a Master’s degree in cultural anthropology from the University of Hawaii.
