    Registered Apprenticeship

Learn about the Registered Apprenticeship, a structured training program that combines on-the-job training and related technical instruction to train employees in occupations that demand a high level of skill.

Todd Cook and Diana Lyons from the Department of Labor and Industry will be sharing information about the program, how it benefits employers, employees, and the Commonwealth.  Do you want to learn more about this recruitment and retention tool that give employers a competitive edge in the marketplace?  Do you want to elevate the competencies and motivation of your existing employees?  This program will provide you the tools you need to succeed.

    About Our Speakers

    Todd Cook

I have worked for the Virginia Department of Labor and Industry’s Division of Registered Apprenticeship for the past 15 years. Prior to coming to Registered Apprenticeship, I worked as a behavioral specialist with Woodrow Wilson Rehabilitation Center for 10 years and taught 7 years in public career and technical education grades 9-12. I am a graduate of James Madison University with a BS in Trade and Industrial Education. This education and work experience was valuable in providing me a solid foundation in the current work I perform as an Apprenticeship Consultant. We are assisting employers in the development of their 21st century work force!

    Dana Lyons

Diana comes from a background in organizational and quality system management. Throughout her career, she has held several leadership positions centered on customer service, auditing and compliance; previously serving as the Operations Director for a local Chamber of Commerce, a licensed Realtor, Internal Auditor and Commercial Property Inspector. Guided by experience, Diana knows that a single approach to workforce training is not the right answer for every business and understands when it comes to hiring and retention, Registered Apprenticeship is not merely a program, but a workforce strategy. That is why she is excited to serve as a liaison to local businesses by helping address needs that will lead to building a stronger and more thriving local economy.
