Coffee & Connections: Attracting Talent within Specialized Industries within the Roanoke and New River Valley

Presenters:  Erin Burcham and Abigail Hammack

Finding and retaining talent is a challenge we all face. Join us for a round table discussion as we collaborate ways your organization is attracting talent in the Roanoke Region and the New River Valley. Representatives from the Roanoke Regional Partnership and Onward New River Valley will kick start the discussion by sharing their GO Virginia study highlights. 

Participants will be encouraged to share their own experiences and best practices as part of this interactive session.

Erin Burcham joined the Roanoke Regional Partnership in 2017.  She serves as the director of talent solutions for the Roanoke Region, focusing on talent attraction and retention.  Before joining the Partnership, she worked for Virginia Tech in continuing and professional education for the Virginia Tech Roanoke Center. She holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of South Carolina and a master’s degree in leadership with a specialty in economic development from Virginia Tech. 

Abigail Hammack is the Director of Marketing & Communications for Onward New River Valley and has been with the organization since 2017. Abigail works to effectively market Virginia’s New River Valley as a good place to live, work, and do business. She guides the digital and traditional marketing efforts and media strategies of Onward NRV. Originally from Kansas, she graduated from Kansas State University with a B.A. in Public Relations and a concentration in Economics
