70+% of persons diagnosed with cancer in 2023, were of prime employment age. 

73% say work provides people who have been diagnosed with cancer with a source of personal pride and accomplishment that is critical for recovery, gives them a sense of purpose and is tied to their identity. 

41% said they would feel more certain of their employer’s support if they knew that supervisors/managers were being given formal training on supporting someone with cancer or other serious illnesses.

Deb was shocked by a cancer diagnosis in 2023 because she had no previous medical conditions. Her journey with cancer, a stem cell transplant and recovery and the medical system created a compelling need to share her story to create insights for people and systems in the workplace to provide stronger support.
