Speaker Bio:
Todd Leeson is the Chair of Gentry Locke’s Employment law practice group. He has over 35 years of experience representing Virginia employers in employment and labor law matters. He regularly litigates employment claims in Virginia. Todd also represents management in labor union matters. Todd is repeatedly named one of the Best Lawyers in America in Labor & Employment Law, and has regularly been named to various lists, including Virginia Legal Elite. As recent examples, in 2022, Virginia Lawyers Weekly named Todd a “Go-To Lawyer” for Employment Law, and in 2022 Best Lawyers in America named Todd the “Lawyer of the Year” (Labor law-management) in Roanoke.
Victor Cardwell counsels executive and human resources managers on a wide range of employer concerns—from harassment, sexual orientation and gender identity issues, retaliation, and discrimination. He offers guidance on workforce reductions, handbooks and agreements, unfair competition, wage and hour compliance, health and disability, discipline and discharge, employee leave, workplace violence, and labor/management relations—including union-organizing campaigns and union-avoidance techniques. He has significant experience before state and federal courts and administrative agencies, including the National Labor Relations Board.
Victor lends legal counsel to many Roanoke-area nonprofit organizations including the Bradley Free Clinic, Center in the Square, Grandin Theatre Foundation, Mill Mountain Zoo, United Way of the Roanoke Valley, Science Museum of Western Virginia, and the Human Rights Council of the Commonwealth of Virginia. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Virginia Foundation of Independent Colleges. In September 2020, Victor was appointed to serve on the board of the Virginia Passenger Rail Authority. In the past, he has served on the boards of the Science Museum of Western Virginia and the Virginia High School League Foundation. He has also been an active volunteer with Cosmopolitan International.
Tom Winn’s nationwide practice focuses on traditional labor/management issues, HR counseling, and employment litigation. He devotes much of his attention to labor/management relations and NLRB matters. Peers have commented that “he is one of the most recognized traditional labor lawyers in Virginia.” He represents employers across the country in collective bargaining, grievances/arbitrations, NLRB litigation, union organizing and decertification campaigns, strike management, and other issues under collective bargaining agreements. Tom has extensive experience representing government contractors regarding collective bargaining, labor arbitrations, Service Contract Act compliance, and related issues. He regularly serves as chief spokesman in union negotiations and has handled more than 100 labor arbitration cases.
